Dear Parents and Guardians,
In an effort to better serve our 5th grade community, we have
established several common policies that each teacher will follow. However,
keep in mind that since each teacher has his or her unique instructional
style, as well as a diverse and distinct group of students, these policies
may vary slightly.
• Weighted Grades
Course work for students is divided into the categories shown below. The
overall value, or “weight” of the grade depends on the category it falls in.

• Make-up Work for Absences:
As per school policy, students may have 2 days for every excused absence to
turn in work.
NOTE: Students will be given their work upon their return to school. This
includes absences reported in advance.
• Late Work:
Students have no more than 1 week to turn in late assignments. Points will
be deducted from the work, and may vary by teacher.
• Corrections:
For grades less than 70% only, students have the option of correcting the
work and resubmitting it with an error analysis form that will be given to
them.
