Here is an explanation of the different folders we have...
BLUE Tuesday Folder - This folder goes home every Tuesday and comes back
signed on Wednesday. This folder contains any work that we have done in the
past couple of weeks and also any school related flyers. If notes need to
be signed, or any money needs to come back to school, please put them in the
pocked of the folder, and I will check it on Wednesday.
YELLOW Homework Folder - This folder goes home every Tuesday and comes back
on Friday. This folder contains any homework assignment given to be
finished at the end of the week. Every week, you will find a Distributive
Practice in their homework. Distributive Practice contains 5 questions on
topics that we discussed a week prior. Children should be able to
independently answer with Mom and Dad reading the question to them. The
purpose of Distributive Practice is for parents to see what topics have been
covered in class the week prior, and also for parents to see what areas
their wonderful might need some more assistance in. On top of the
Distributive Practice there might some combination of handwriting, math,
language arts, and/or integrated content homework. When homework is
completed, please put them in the brads of the homework.
GREEN Poetry Folder - This folder goes home every Friday and comes back on
Monday. This folder contains the poem that we have studied for the week.
We work on reading the poem and finding sight words all week. Please read
the poem with your wonderful together. Ask them to help you identify all
the Wikiwall words of the week! Please put the poem back in the brads when
finished. We go back and review the poems in our folders all the time
during workstation times, so please do not misplace the poems!
Plastic Baggie - This is found in the pocket of the Poetry Folder. Every
week, your wonderful will bring home the browsing box books that they have
been working on. They should be able to read these books independently.
Again, we have circled all the sightwords for the week and have practiced
reading them several times as well. Please read them with your child. As
the year goes on, we will also be putting in the plastic baggie all their
published writing as well for Mom and Dad to enjoy! On Monday, please put
the contents back in the bag to bring back to school. At the end of the
year, wonderfuls will get to take all the books they made home!
RED Behavior Folder - This folder goes home every Friday and comes back
signed on Monday. On each day that your wonderful receives a WOW or
FROGTABULOUS DAY, I will put a happy face stamp on their calendar date. If
they had to move their smiley, I will write in their folder the incorrect
behavior they were exhibiting at that moment. Please take the time to review
your wonderful's behavior with them so they are clear as to what they had
done for the day. If behavior is severe and I would like parents to be aware
of it immediatly, then I will send home a note in our "I had a tough day
today" manilla folder. If you receive one of these on any particular day,
please take the time to discuss the behavior with your wonderful and return
the contents of the manilla folder signed. Hopefully, I won't have to use it!
