About The Teacher
This is my 7th year teaching. I was born in Houston, TX but lived back and forth between Houston and Taiwan when I was growing up. I graduated from UT Austin (hook 'em) in 2002 with a degree in Applied Learning and Development, specializing in Early Childhood and a degree in Chinese Language. I also have a certification in ESL. I moved back to Houston and taught a year in kindergarten. I then moved to Austin and taught 3rd grade in Hutto. Afterwards, my husband was transferred to Taiwan through AMD so I taught kindergarten there for a little over a year. And now, we are FINALLY back in Austin!! This will be my third year teaching kindergarten at Fernbluff and I'm glad that I have finally found a home here! We live in downtown Austin so I fight through rush hour traffic every evening! I also teach Chinese at the Austin Chinese School off of Far West on Sundays as well! Outside of teaching, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially running and mountain biking. I also love music - I was an All State violist and piano player in high school. I had the opportunity to play at Carnegie Hall when I was 16.
