Your children may have told you about my daughter's adventure to Africa. She
left on Sept. 1 to Uganda. She is living and working at an orphanage there.
The orphanage is with African Renewal Ministries, Bethany's Village. She is
journaling the highlights of her time there on her blog:

I have shared with my class, some of what she tells me about their culture
and customs and everyday life. In addition, the students are writing letters
to the children. We do not have any specific names of children, only that
they are our pen-pals. I understand the mail is very, very slow to Uganda.
But we are hoping for replies at some time during the year. My daughter plans
to be there for 6 months total, till March 1. However, she is there
independently, not with an organization, and could change her time of return.
I felt like this was a great opportunity for our U.S. children to learn about
children from another country and continent. I have shown them a few pictures
from her blog, and will continue to do so. When my daughter returns in the
spring, she will come to our class and share some stories about the children
as well as teach them a geography lesson or two! As you can tell, I am very
excited about this opportunity (although I wish my child were home and not so
far away!)
