Happy Thanksgiving to One and All!!!

On this short week we wrote Thankful poems and talked

about what we are Thankful for. :)

Next week we will begin The Best Christmas Pageant

Ever.  With this novel we will also explore how other

cultures celebrate the holiday season. :)  New spelling

words on Monday the 30th.

Math - Week of November 16

We are still discovering multiplication and division. We have learned appropriate vocabulary for our math and are learning a new way of division this week....partial quotients! Students will use their knowledge to complete an averaging activity and if we still have time we will be having one of our social emotional lessons at the end of the week!

Don't forget that challenges are due on Tuesdays with a written explanation of their strategies!

As for the challenges....as a reminder, each Tuesday, I will be giving your students a weekly challenge to work on at home throughout the week. These should come home in the TAG Tuesday folder. The challenge is designed to stretch your child's thinking. My goal is for the students to think critically and to be able to write about their strategies and their thoughts. Therefore, they will receive credit for showing that they put time and effort into solving the problem and for showing their work. The correct answer is extra!

I have also assigned an independent study to be completed before winter break. The due date is December 14. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the project.

The kids are on a roll with firstinmath.com. If you are able to support our efforts with some prizes for our prize box, the students and I would be so grateful! Thank you to the families of Richard and Arya for starting us off!
