About The Teacher

Welcome to my web page!!!  Let me start by saying that I feel truly 
blessed to have the opportunity to work at such an amazing school, in such 
an involved community, and with such dedicated and intelligent teachers and 
staff. At the risk of sounding boastful, I also think I have the best 
students in the world!!
   I've lost track, but I think I've been an educator for about 19 years 
now.  I began my career in Pflugerville, where I spent my first two years 
teaching 4th grade.  At this point, I moved to San Antonio and worked in 
Comal ISD in Bulverde (beautiful country!)as a K-6th Gifted and Talented 
teacher (TAG.) I enjoyed the creativity this position allowed me as well as 
the facinating curriculum! During my 9 years there I also taught in 3/4 and 
4/5 multi-age classrooms. I sat on the bench for a couple of years when my 
boys were babies, and when I returned to work I scored this perfect job at 
Fern Bluff where I have been teaching for 9 years.
    I love teaching all subjects, but being a 4th grade teacher for the last 
10 years, I have rekindled my love for writing. I also love sharing my 
interest in children's literature with my students (and any other kids that 
will listen). My goal above all else is to make learning fun for my 
students, and to help foster life-long learners. 
   On a more personal note, I have been married for 19 years to Joey 
Strmiska, and we have two chips off the ole block, named Hayden (9th grade) 
and Heath (6th grade). We all are very active in many sports which change 
with each season. When I'm not cheering on the boys, I enjoy baking, 
gardening, sewing, decorating my home, writing, spending time with 
friends,and of course...shopping!
