AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS – Mad Science, Karate, Drama Club, and Math Pentathlon are all programs available. Be sure to notify me if your child has permission to go directly to the program after school.
Please do not put any lunch money, order forms, notes, etc. in the green, yellow or red folders because I may not check those until later in the week. The blue Tuesday folder is the best place to return items to school, but if you need to get something to me another day, please send in an envelope that your child can hand to me.
In the Tuesday Folder:
*a very important form from the office
This requires a signiture and needs to be returned to class.
*a Highlights note
It would really help our class get a bag of stickers if you sign and return that form!
*the first book order
For every dollar you spend on books, our classroom gets free books.
~~~If you choose to order your books online through our classroom’s account, not only is it a convenient option that is now available to parents, but with EACH ORDER the class earns one free book! Instructions attacted!! (Just a thought!)
Next Monday, September 21st, we will start our Star of the Week with Abby! Be sure to look for her poster in the hall outside of our classroom. To find out when your child is our Star, and more information about the poster that needs to be sent to school with them, check under the Star of the Week Page. Remember the best part is the class Teddy Bear will go home with the Star of the Week on Friday.
We found the Gingerbread Man today!! It was a week filled with seeing crumbs in the room, smelling “him” just around the corner, and spotting “him” running through the hallways!Thank you to Mrs. Landt for cooking some of the most delicious Gingerbread Men ever. The kids loved them!
There are lots of germs in the air right now. Please talk with your child about washing their hands, keeping hands out of their mouths and covering their mouths when they cough. Since we do have so many germs in kindergarten, we are asking that all snugglies your children have been bringing for rest time stay at home.
However, I would like for each child to bring a small, light weight jacket instead, with animals and blankets and pillows and whatever else it is just too much to pack what is important. . . folders. The kids are dressing for 100 degrees and when the air is on in the room, sometimes when we are sitting in group they get cool. There is just not enough room for everything, it makes the backpacks too heavy, and I figure for a 25 minute rest . . . well I think we all can do with out our little fluffy friends. We are napping with our jackets instead, incase we get cold lying down. You can also leave the change of clothes at home unless you think there might be a small chance your child might need them. They take up so much room! (But don’t tell anyone you heard that here.)
The story of our shoes. . .
We are being very careful in the heat. Our class is drinking water before and after recess, which is shorter. If your child would also like to bring a labeled water bottled for outside they are welcome to do that as well.
You should still discuss the lunch choices with your child at home. When we get here I read the choices, and they pick. Everyone should be able to pick what they want to eat. If you want your child to eat a certain choice, you can tell them in the morning.
The way you read the lunch menu: the first thing listed is choice #1, the second thing listed under that is choice #2, and the vegetarian choice, which is the same each week, is always choice #3.
Appropriate behavior is extremely important for learning to occur at school. We have discussed our behavior system and how it works in our classroom. We are learning the boundaries of Kindergarten and our classroom, so I have been giving lots of positive reinforcement, re-directs and reminders when necessary. Starting next week, I will be expecting to see good choices in our behaviors and we will begin to use the behavior system as needed. Everyone starts on a "green" day and if rules are broken (after reminders) they will move through the colors of the behavior system-yellow, orange, red and blue. If your child happens to move to yellow, please do not worry as that is usually all they need in order to correct the behavior. If your child moves to orange or beyond, I will write in their red folder and send it home that day. Please review and send the red folder back the following day. I will contact you if we have any recurring behavior concerns. Thank you for your support at home with behavior so our children know we are all working together to help them learn as much as possible.
I hope that clears some details up . . .
If you have anything else I’m here,
Cyndi
**For your convenience, Fern Bluff now has an option to report your child's absence online. If your child is absent, please go to the Fern Bluff website, and click on Parent Resources. It will take you to another pull down window where you can choose, "Report an Absence Online." Filling out the information online will eliminate the notification to the office and the note explaining the child's absence upon returning to school.
Please click the "add e-mail" button at
the bottom of this page if you would like to
receive an e-mail each time I update my
