Welcome to Kindergarten. I am so excited to be a part of your child's life
this year. Kindergarten is a year of excitement, curiosity, discovery, and
immense learning. This year will go by quickly, so fasten your seat belts
and let the learning begin!
I cannot wait to get to know your child and hear all about your family.
Believe me; I get to hear it all! For those of you who are curious, here is
a little bit about myself. . .
This year will be my eighth year teaching. I am so blessed to have spent
all of these wonderful years here at Fern Bluff Elementary. I taught first
grade for the last 5 years and this will be my third year in Kindergarten.
I grew up in Henderson, which is a very small town in East Texas. My
parents still live there and I love going home to visit them and those tall
pine trees. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin (Hook'em
Horns) with a degree in Applied Learning and Development and a
specialization in Reading.
Soon after my college graduation I married my high school sweetheart
Tolbert. We celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary this summer! Our son
Carson is 3 1/2 years old. We are loving being parents; however, it is by
far the hardest job in the world! Carson keeps us busy, he loves being
outside and playing with his cars and trucks. This is a very special year
for my husband and I as we expect the arrival of our second son. I am due
December 5th. Yes, that means I will be out of the classroom for maternity
leave but don't worry, your children will be in excellent hands. I already
have a Top Quality long term subsitute for the job (more information to
come). I expect to be out for December and January and hope to return early
February. Our other "child" is a 5 year old Beagle named Gracie. She keeps
us almost as busy as Carson (but she
likes to sleep a little more).
I don't have much free time, but when I do I love to shop, read, run, swim,
and shop (did I mention that already?).
I look forward to meeting both you and your children. Let's work together
to make this an unbelievable year for your child!
