School starts promptly at 7:45.
Students are now able to check out 2 books. We focused on one of them
being a red dot book. Please remember that these picture books offer so many
teaching opportunities. We are working on taking picure walks, rereading
text, reading for meaning and discussing the events of the story. Please
take the opportunity to go deeper with their books for comprehension.
All library books should always stay with them. When they are at school,
it should be in their desk for them to read when they get the opportunity.
They may take it home each day, but I advised to take good care of it and
leave it in their backpack when they were not reading it.
We have been doing work stations. You may see work coming home loose in your
child's backpack. This is work practiced. It does not need to be returned.
The only reason they should be bringing it home is because they followed the
directions and completed the task. Sometimes there is a minimum requirement
on the completion like writing 15 out of 20 words. So, in some cases, it may
not look complete to you. I do stress that they work neatly whether that is
coloring or writing or cutting etc. On these items, take time to review what
was practiced and offer praise for good work!
