Kindergarten students check out 1 book at a time each week after their
library Interactive Read Aloud.
First grade students check out 1 book at a time, until they attend the "Just
Right" book lesson given by Ms. Dalton. This class is usually given in late
September or early October. Students are then allowed to check out two books.
Students in grades 1-4 (1st grade after their "Just Right Books" lesson),
and parents may have a total of 2 books checked out at a time. Fifth graders
may check out 3 books at a time to allow for research and other curricular
needs.
Library materials are checked out for a period of 2 weeks. Materials can be
renewed for 2 additional weeks. However, if students are coming to the
library weekly or even more frequently, they need to return their books in
order to check out again. We encourage students to come to the library as
often as needed with the permission of their teacher.
Students must clear overdue books prior to checking out another book.
Overdue notices are sent out reqularly as a reminder. Late fees are not
charged, however if a book is damaged or lost a $16 replacement fee is
charged for a hardback library book. If you paid for a lost book and it is
found and returned to the library within the school year, you will be
reimbursed for the book except for a $1.00 processing charge.
Student ID's (library/lunch cards) are required by the School District.
Students must present their ID's or if lost, have paid for a new ID in order
to check out library materials. Replacement ID's are ordered through the
library at a cost of $3.00, plus an additional $1 for the card holder and $1
for the lanyard if needed.
Any checks for library payments of these kinds are to be made to Fern Bluff
Elementary and will need to have your phone number and driver's license
included on the check. Cash is also accepted. Receipts will be issued to you.
We realize that accidents may happen, and we appreciate your support and
cooperation in following library policies.
