Signing Students Out
Parents, if you are taking your child from school early, you MUST
sign them out at Elsy's desk. Elsy will then call for your child. This is
to ensure the safety of all of our students.
Visitors
We welcome visitors during lunch time. You are required to sign in
at Ms. Elsy's desk. If you want to visit your child's classroom, you are
required to obtain approval from an administrator. The classroom visit is
limited to 30 minutes.
Birthday Treats
Due to student allergies and medical conditions, we require that all
birthday treats be store bought with a nutrition information label attached.
Birthday treats will be given to the class in the afternoon.
Drop Off
You are welcome to drop off your child in either the front or back
of school. Our supervision of students begins at 7:15. This is also when
our doors open for breakfast eaters. Beginning at 7:30, we have staff and
safety patrol monitor and assist car riders. We ask that you look to these
helpers for guidance. They will wave you down to the last available spot to
unload your student. This is so that we can get all 825 students unloaded
and in the building by the tardy bell at 7:45.
Tardies
The first bell (a warning bell) will ring at 7:40 with the last bell
ringing at 7:45. After 7:45, your child is tardy and will be counted as
such. There are some days that due to bad weather we extend the tardy bell
to 8:00- but it is always good practice to arrive by 7:45.
Pick Up
While it may look like chaos, it is actually a well thought out
process. We dismiss our Kinder and First Graders beginning at 2:35 to the
front of the building. We ask that parents wait in the parent waiting
section by the tree or past the porch. The porch is where all 14 classes
will wait and it gets pretty crowded. We ask that older students wait with
the youngest sibling for pick up. We dismiss our 2-5 grades at 2:45 in the
back of the building. Again we ask that parents wait in the parent waiting
area or at least past the porch. We will always dismiss walkers and bike
riders first in both locations! We will then begin loading students in
cars. We ask that you use your visor tag to make this easier. Please follow
the directions of our staff and safety patrol: they will wave you to the last
spot available so that we can load as many cars as possible. As always- we
appreciate your patience :)
