Explanation of Kindergarten Folders
Blue: The blue folder is the "Tuesday" folder, and will be sent home each Tuesday. It contains information from the teacher, campus, PTA and district. There will times when information needs to be completed/filled-out and returned, so please check the folder each Tuesday. Please sign the cover and return on Wednesday.
Yellow: The yellow folder is a weekly homework folder. It will be sent home on Tuesday with your child's homework for the week. Please complete and return by Friday.
Green: The green folder is a poetry folder. It will be sent home Friday with a copy of the poem our class used for Shared Reading during the week. Please enjoy the poems with your child and return Monday.
Red:
The red folder is a behavior reporting folder. It will be sent home on Friday. Please review with your child and return Monday.
Take-Home Reading Bag:
Your child's take-home reading bag will frequently be in his/her backpack. I use this for a variety of books, so it may contain 1 or more of the following:
* a guided reading book which was used in small
group reading instruction
* a classroom library book selected by your
child
* a published book written and illustrated by
your child during writing workshop
* a photocopied book which was colored by
your child
Please return all books to school. Each student has a reading "browsing box" to collect books they have made. Students will read from that box during literacy workstations. Sets of books that are used in a reading group are limited and often used with several groups at different times, so it is very important these books make it back to class.
Thank you for taking time to share these books with your child. They are always extremely proud to take them home overnight!
