Each week your child will be given 10 core words that follow a word family. They must
learn to spell these correctly for the test that will be taken each Friday on those
10 "Fern Bluff Words." There was a suggestion page sent home in the homework folder
that provides many different activities you and your child could get involved in to
help them learn these words. Do you have to study the words those ways, no, but find
what works best for your child? The "Bobcat Words" are bonus words your child can
test on if you choose so. These words do not usually follow the word family, but
touch on concepts we have talked about in class. Your child does not have to test on
these words. If they try and get them correct, there will be extra bonus points. If
they test and get them wrong, no penalties will be taken.
