Monday: introduced rule, search for words, copy into agenda; reviewed activities for the week. Activities attached under Blueprints (link on the left)
Tuesday: Write each word in pencil, again in pen, and one more time in pencil
Wed: Write spelling words and circle the double consonants. Look up the words in the dictionary (or dictionary.com) and copy the word as it is divided into syllables (found at the end of each entry).

            Example:    ba ll oon       (bal loon)

Thur: Write the spelling list in alphabetical order. Write each word again using capital letters for the double consonants.

EXAMPLE:                balloons  baLLoons

Fri: turn in all three completed activity; TEST (this week will be different as we look to recognize the correctly spelled words)

Today in class: Wrote book in agenda, once on paper, and one time by writing qu in red and the rest in pencil. (squeak)
Tuesday: Write your spelling word in ABC order. Watch the third or fourth letters on most words.
Wednesday: Write a sentence for each spelling word. Include a contraction in each sentence somewhere. Underline each spelling word. (this can be done at home using keyboard)
      EX: I can't quit until the job is finished.
Thursday: Write each spelling word. Beside the word, include the part of speech (how it can be used).
      EX: queen (noun)      quit (verb)

Week of October 19-23
 
Words beginning in August through Oct 19 will be used. Thirty words, randomly, will be used. Please review the agenda for the word lists.
 
Activities will be included in class this weeks, but you will need to review the words you may have missed when they come home in the Tuesday folder this week.
 
 
Week October 13-19 (Being a short week...this will look differently with homophones. This week we will need to recognize which word to its meaning. EX: I will by/buy the new snow boots.)

The word list (http://www.eyeonthesky.org/pdfs/HighFrequencyWords.pdf) are words the fourth grade children should know. I will be working with these words for the next several words. Words in this word bank are listed in the order of their frequency of use in everyday writing. Since the is the most frequently used word in our language, its number is one in the word bank. The first 25 words are used in 33% of everyday writing, the first 100 words appear in 50% of adult and student writing, and the first 1,000 words are used in 89% of everyday writing.
