WEEKLY:
*Read 120 minutes each week. I recommend reading the same book at school and at home. Students can remember what they are reading and finish each book sooner.

Spelling:
- Pre-test every Monday (Tuesday if there is no school on Monday).
- Post-test is every Friday.
- Students who score a 90% or better on the pre-test do not have to take the post-test on Friday unless they choose to do so.
- Spelling homework is assigned on Mondays and is due Friday.
- The vocabulary words need to be used in a MEANINGFUL sentence to obtain the extra credit.
- Students that receive spelling lists from Mrs. Graves adhere to the same procedure except using the words from Mrs. Graves.

FOCUS: Soft and Hard G
Rule:
--If the letter G is followed by a consonant or the vowels a, o, or u the pronunciation is “hard” (like “G”).
--If the letter G is followed by e, i, or y the pronunciation is “soft” (like “J”).
