All About Mr. Tidwell

NAME: Mr. Tidwell
Picture

SCHOOL: Fern Bluff Elementary

CLASS: 2nd Grade

SCHOOL PHONE: 428-2179

This is my fourth year teaching and I am so excited to have the opportunity
to work at Fern Bluff Elementary again. I believe that I am
blessed to be able to teach 2nd Grade because it's the best grade ever.

I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a communications
degree. After graduating, I worked for about a year in the entertainment
industry. While working on a commercial shoot with children, I realized how
much I wanted to pursue a career where I had the opportunity to work with
children all the time. I moved back to Austin from Los Angeles and enrolled
in Region XIII's Educator's Certification Program. While taking classes, I
worked at Helping Hand Home for Children in Austin. Helping Hand Home for
Children is a residential treatment center for emotionally disturbed
children, many of whom have learning disabilities. After working there for
over a year, I have learned to assess and support children struggling with
aggression, learning difficulties, and social skills.

I will be married four years this October to my wife, Jennie, who
teaches 7th grade Language Arts at Grisham Middle School (RRISD). We have a
cat named Henry, who likes to chew on our hair and any paper that is left out.
Therefore, if your child comes home and says that Mr. Tidwell's cat ate my
homework, it will not be a lie. We also have a dog named Cassie and she is a
wonderful German Shepherd/Terrier mix. She is a smart dog, who I have trained
to ring a bell to tell us that she wants to go outside. A skill that I now
regret teaching her.

Again, I am excited to be teaching your child this year and with your
support, I believe that this year will be an outstanding year for all of us.
Our Class Mission: Never settle for less than your best.
