Hi! My name is Rebecca Torres. I was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on
November 19, 1976. My father is a dermatopathologist and my mother is a
retired teacher. I have an older sister, a younger sister, and a younger
brother. All of my extended family lives in Abilene, where I grew up.
After graduating from Abilene High School, I attended Abilene Christian
University where I majored in psychology with premedical emphasis. After a
brief stint in medical school in Lubbock (ick!), I decided that I wanted to
change my career path to education. In 2002, I received my master's degree
in elementary education from Lubbock Christian University and have been
teaching ever since.
This year will be my sixth full year of teaching. Over the past five years,
I've taught 1st grade (twice), 5th grade (for part of a year), and 3rd grade
(for 3 years). This is my second year at Fern Bluff, and I absolutely love it
here. It is a wonderful school and a fantastic place to teach!
I live in Volente, Texas, with my husband Jacob (a small business owner and
volunteer fireman), and we have 3 kids between us - all boys! Jared is 8,
Caleb is 4, and Noah is 10 months old.
