Hi Everyone,
Hope you're having a good weekend. Busy week ahead. Please bring in a
decorated bag or box tomorrow (Monday, February 8th)--valentines may be sent
in as early as Tuesday,Feb. 9th. The book fair is open this week-see
Newsflash page for daily hours. We have an early release day on Wednesday,
Feb. 10th. Students will be dismissed at 12:45pm. Friday, Feb. 12th we will
be having our Valentine's day party at 1:30pm.-thanks to all who are able to
donate items or time on Friday-all are welcome. :)Mrs. D.
Science Fair
Congratulations to all Science Fair participants! Great projects! Math Night
was fun-I was there early, but had to leave because my little one was feeling
yucky (allergies). We got to play games and hear some math stories,though!
I hope some of you were able to make it out.
Save the date...our Literacy night is coming-March 11th...more info soon.
PTA news
We came in 3rd place for the Campbell's label contest-yeah dragons! I'll be
handing out some FCE keychains on Monday that were awarded for the 3rd place
spot. Great job!
Boxtops- Our classroom continues to collect Boxtops and Campbell's soup
labels. Your donations are appreciated.

No Show and Tell the last two weeks of school.
Homework
Spelling words and math homework will be coming home Monday. On the inside
cover of the spelling spiral are suggested activities to practice words.
Spelling spirals may be kept at home and then be sent in on Friday. The math
should not be challenging, but is simply practice of concepts touched on in
class. If you'd like to challenge your student in math, please feel free to
change numbers as needed. Students should be able to complete assignments
with minimal support. If more support is needed, please let me know.
**Baggie books will come home with some students to help work
on fluency, which is improved with repeated readings. Baggie books will be
switched on Mondays and Thursdays. Books sent home need to be read at least
3X before being switched.
Remember to switch out reading packet books daily (if completed) and sign
those reading logs-put a star/asterisk by books read independently. Reading
logs stay in daily folders. Reading packets stay at school on Fridays. You
may continue to read and fill out logs with books from home. The math
homework and spelling spirals will not be picked up until Friday. Spelling
tests will be administered on Friday mornings.
Save the Date
We are scheduled to go to the Austin Science and Nature Center on April
30th. We are too many to go on the same day, so....Delgado, Heinzen and Long
are going on the 30th of April.
The other first grade classes will be going on April 27th. I'll send out more
info. as the date draws near.
