About The Teacher

I am originally from Kokomo, Indiana. My mother was an early polio victim
and spent 10 years in a hospital in an iron lung before she died. My
younger sister and I were raised by an aunt and uncle. We stayed with my
dad on weekends and saw my mom then, also. My years as a child were very
loving and gave me my base for compassion and friendships. I graduated from
high school from Tipton, Indiana, and started college at Ball State
University in Muncie, Indiana. I finished college at Wisconsin State
University at River Falls with a degree in elementary education and minor in
sociology. My husband and I were married in 1968 and spent most of the next
15 years in St. Paul, Minnesota. We then moved to Texas in 1984 with our 3
sons. Our oldest son is Jon. He lives in Dallas and has 2 daughters- 11
and 9. Chris is our next son and lives in Cedar Park with his wife, Leila.
The 2 oldest boys have degrees from Texas Tech (chemcial engineering and
business). Mike, our youngest, raises money for cancer participating in
triathalons and is now an Associate Director of Education at The Cooper
Institute in Dallas, Texas, as a full time instructor where he trains
professionals in the fitness industry. Mike graduated from Howard Payne
University with a degree in business. I have two dogs, D-O-G, an 11 year old
rat terrier and, Charlie, a 3 year old Cavalier King Charles. These 2 dogs
are sooo cute and are sooo bright (ok, so one of those statements is
correct)! In April, 2005, my husband of 36 years died suddenly of a heart
attack. Our family sure views each day as another day of thankful blessings
we've had as a family. Our faith is our guide for my family. Our 3 boys have
been incredible in their continued help to me as well as relatives, friends,
teachers and the community- including so many families from Forest Creek. I
have been at Forest Creek since it opened and was chosen Teacher of the Year
in the spring of 2008. I am glad to be back this fall- children are my ground
and love!
