Math TAG

5th Grade

The fifth graders will be continuing their work in geometry for the next couple weeks. We will be working with angles. We will be classifying the types of angles, measuring angles in closed shapes and angles. We will also classify three dimensional figures. We will be continuing our work with the circumference and area of circles. We will continue our work with fractions, logic, and problem solving.

4th Grade

The fourth graders will work on identifying essential attributes in two and three dimensional geiometric figures. They will practice sketching the results of translations, rotations, and reflections on the first quadrant of a coordinate grid. They will also continue with area, perimeter, capacity and weight using standard units. We will be adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions with common and uncommon denominators. We will continue our work with multiplication, division, fractions, logic, and problem solving.

3rd Grade

The third grader will begin their geometry unit. They will identify, classify, and describe two and three dimensional figures by their attributes. They will identify congruent two dimensional figures. They will be able to create and identify lines of symmetry in two dimensional geometric figures. They will be able to describe right, acute, and obtuse angles, parallel and intersecting lines using concrete objects and models.

We will be building and drawing fractions. We will also begin adding and subtracting fractions with common denominators. We will continue working on multiplicataion and division, logic, problem solving and just playing with number combinations in class. We work on these skills throughout the year.

2nd Grade

In second grade we will continue working with multiplication facts. It would be very beneficial if they practiced at home. We are working on adding and subtracting with borrowing and carrying. We will be looking at combinations of numbers and that you can make numbers in different ways. We will also be working with some money combinations.
