Week of Nov. 30- Dec. 4 :
Reading: This week will be concentrating on all of our TAKS skills. We will be doing a lot of whole group learning in our "Fiction Comprehension Packet". This packet contains short passages and 4 to 5 questions that touch on all of our skills we have learned so far. Our second benchmark is approaching, so we will be doing our best to make sure we have all of the skills down! We also will be reading "Moses Goes to Concert" to work on our fluency and listening comprehension. Two days this week we will do TAKS practices; one over Main Idea and one over Multiple Meaning Words. We will continue in our small reading groups and be sure to check your child's BEE binder for Weekly Readers.
Language: In language this week we will be learning all about pronouns. Students will practice using pronouns in their writing throughout the week. Also in class this week we will be coming up with an outline of a "perfect paper". We will be learning and talking about introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions.
Spelling: This week we will cover Unit 11: compound words. This week we will be working on dividing words into syllables to help assist in spelling! Students will be working on their visual memory skills, word study skills, and understanding word meanings with the week's words. The bonus words will be common 3rd grade sight words.
