Welcome to 2nd Grade.

Kirkpatrick will teach Reading, Language Arts, and Handwriting.
School begins at 7:40 and the tardy bell rings at 7:50.
Conference Schedule-Monday,Tuesday& Thursday 10:10-10:40, Wednesday 3:00-3:30.
Please remember that conferences are scheduled through the office. Call
281-482-1201 to schedule all conferences.
Lunch - 11:40-12:10
Library - Mondays 1:45-2:15
P.E. - Every other day on a 6 - day rotation. Please make sure your child
wears tennis shoes.
Math Timed Tests -Math facts will be practiced in class and need to be
practiced at home. Math facts tests will be given every Tuesday and Thursday.
Students are allowed to miss up to 3 facts to move on to the next test.
Homework - Students are responsible for copying all homework assignments down
from the board each morning. Assignments will be brief but relevant to the
subject matter introduced in class.
Please initial and return the homework sheet in the folder Monday through
Thursday. If you have a message to send me, just place the note in your
child's folder. If your child forgets his/her folder, please do not try to
send it to school. The main purpose for sending this folder home is to teach
students how to become responsible for their own work and materials.
Your child will be bringing home a home reader that is on his/her reading
level. You are to have your child read the leveled reader aloud each night to
practice reading with expression while observing punctuation marks, and
reading for fluency. Please return the reader each day.
Friday Folders will go home each Friday. Please review papers completed in
class and read all notes from the school. Empty the folder, keep all papers at
home, and return the
folder on Monday.
Only one folder will be issued throughout the year, so please handle these
with care. Behavior will be recorded from Friday through Thursday.
Cafeteria - You are welcome to have lunch with your child. The nurse would
like to ask that a limit be put on fast food products being brought to the
students. We are trying to teach making healthy choices. If you choose to eat
lunch with your child, you will have to sit at our table.
Emergency Procedures - If there is severe weather, watch Ch. 13 for
Friendswood district updates.
You may also visit www.fisdk12.net (click on Parents) and sign up to receive
FISD alerts.
Please send updated emergency information, such as phone numbers for home,
cell, or employment to Cline as it occurs. Also, make sure your child's
enrollment card has all individuals listed who are allowed to pick your child
up in case of an emergency.
Please send handwritten notes for going home differently. This is a safety
issue and a school policy.
Phone calls are not accepted. All notes for change of transportation must be
delivered to the school by 2:15.
As per state law, a child may have one designated bus drop off and
may not ride home with another student.
Report Cards are sent home every 9 weeks. Progress reports are sent 1/2 way
through the 9week session if your child is experiencing any difficulty.
Book Order will be sent once a month. These books are on the appropriate
reading level for second grade students, much less expensive than you would
pay for them in stores, tax free and most of all fun for students to read.
Send a check made payable to Scholastic Book Club with the order form.
Please do not send cash.
