1. Write main idea next to each paragraph as you read
2. Underline proof of answer in the story and write question number next
to it.
3. Write the paragraph number where you found the answer next to the
question
4. Read the questions before reading the story
TAKS Strategies for Math
1. Underline or circle important words and numbers in the question
2. Draw a picture if you can
3. You MUST write the number sentence
4. Complete all tables, charts, number lines, patterns, etc.
5. Write the numbers next to all graphs, tally tables, etc.
6. Follow UPS check (Understand, Plan, Solve then check your answer)
7. Use a check and x in the answer choices.
