Hello,
My name is Mrs. Julia Steele and I am one of Cline's reading intervention
specialists. This year I will provide literacy intervention for kindergarten, first grade, one class of
second graders, and two classes of third grade. I am also a dyslexia reading specialist for Gr. K-3.
Early intervention in the regular education classroom, is proving to be the key to
learning success in many elementary children. I am committed to
doing "what ever it takes" to help children develop their reading and love
learning.
Let me tell you more about my background...First, I am dual certified
in Elementary education and Specific Language Disabilities with 25 years
of public school experience in which the last 16 years have been at Cline
Elementary! During those years I have taught in regular and special
education classrooms in grades PreK to 4th. Most of my graduate course work
has been in early literacy, early childhood education, elementary reading,
math, and science, special education, dyslexia training programs, assistive
technology, and school administration. So as you can see, I still love life
long learning and continued education! I have a very loving supportive
family which includes my husband, Nick Steele and my 17 year old FISD
junior daughter, Catie. I also have an adorable cat named Angel that I
talk about to the children throughout the year! I especially, love seeing
the development in a child's learning potential, as well as, a student's
academic and personal success that follows. I believe a child's school
success is made possible when "excellence" is focused upon a child's
programs, and supported by a strong partnership of home and school.
My goal is that every child will show progress with their use of language,
and love of literature. The "Build-A-Book Reading Workshop" is a Gr.1
supplemental reading program or kindergarten intervention program in which I
work with small groups of students for 25 to 45 minute periods,depending on
the grade level, Monday through Thursday, targeting a student's specific
intervention areas. Student progress, response to intervention (RtI) from
SRP or KIP, as well as reading assessment information, or classroom
interventions will be reported every 9 weeks to the homeroom reading
teacher, parent and Cline's Problem Solving Team RtI committee.
Please feel free to call or set up a conference with me if your child
is attending SRP, KIP or receiving Tier 3 dyslexia intervention from me in the
classroom. At that time, we will discuss your child's strengths and
weaknesses, as well as, goals for your child's school year. I look forward

We believe that learning literacy (with reading, writing, listening and
speaking skills) is the most important goal in life if we want our
developing children to become successful and happy adults. Learning
is a life-long goal that gives meaning to our lives. At Cline, we believe
that early intervention programs, like Supplemental Reading Program,
Kindergarten Intervention Program and the FISD's Response to Intervention
model are the key to elementary school success. We, Mrs. Steele and Mrs.
Patterson, are dedicated to "No Child Left Behind" goals, the state's TEKs,
state/federal guidelines for dyslexia programs and the Texas school
guidelines for achievement(TAKS). We promote research based literacy
instruction while working collaboratively with classroom teachers, school
specialists, and parents. We try to create successful learning experiences
that are multi-sensory, sequecial, relevant, and enjoyable for the
developing elementary child.
