Dear Parents,
I am so excited to be teaching your child this year! This is such an
honor! This will be my 8th year of teaching in 3rd grade and I have to tell
you how much I love it! I want you to know how much I am looking forward
to making this school year wonderfully happy, successful, and exciting!
Together, you and I will make this happen. Thank you for your support and
for sharing with me your most prized All-Stars! :)
Just so you know, I like to keep parents up-to-date on the activities
in our classroom so I will be emailing you weekly. I did this last year and
the parents said they loved it! Also, if you need to schedule a conference
with me, please call the office at 281-482-1201 and Jodi can help you make
arrangements. I know some of you have a hard time getting to school for a
conference so phone conferences are always an option as well. ~Miss Reed
My Philosophy of Education
I believe that all students have skills and talents that must not only
be respected, but also used and encouraged in the classroom in order to
achieve academic excellence. Students will know that they will be held
accountable for high expectations concerning their growth and success as a
learner. These expectations go hand in hand with opportunities for success.
It is my responsibility to help children meet these high expectations by
making learning clear and relevant to students' personal experiences both
inside and outside the classroom. Students will meet my expectations by
having an active role in learning. Students will become responsible for
their own learning through active engagement with peers on varying academic
levels and through manipulation and examination of ideas and materials. This
active learning gives students opportunities to work creatively, to use
critical thinking skills, and to problem solve. I want students to learn to
take responsibility for their own learning, to develop the importance of
learning in order to understand, and to identify and assess what they know.
Instructional strategies will focus on process as well as product. My goals
are to note the diverse nature of all my students, capitalize on their
diversity, and provide each with quality curriculum and effective literacy
instruction.
