TYPING, TYPING, Think Tank is all about TYPING!!
As of next year Keyboarding will no longer be offered as an elective at the
High School so our children will have to learn keyboarding at lower levels.
Research states that "formal keyboarding" should begin in children no younger
than 3rd grade because they do not possess the proper eye hand coordination to
learn any earlier; however, that does not mean we can not start getting all
ages used to the keyboard and its makeup.
Kindergarten through 2nd grade students will become familiar with the keyboard
through a variety of activities. 3rd grade students will be taught proper
touch typing techniques as they practice their skills on our web based
curriculum Typing Pal. We are also anxiously awaiting the arrival of keyboard
skins that will aide in our touch typing lessons by prohibiting the eyes from
straying to the keyboard and ruining our attempts to practice key and hand
placement memorization
