Since I am co-teaching in regular education classes and am teaching
with regular education teachers, your child's homework assignments will be
recorded in his planner. (bee binder) I will try my best to be sure that
your child has recorded his assignments correctly and that he has the
materials needed to complete them. Please let me know if there are any
problems in this area. One of our goals, though, is to make your child as
independent as possible.
I encourage students to attempt assignments and to get help from parents or
older siblings.
I will modify assignments if needed, but I would appreciate feedback from you
if your child is experiencing any difficulties with his homework. You can
call me or leave me a note in your child's planner.
It is especially important that you ask your child about the strategies that
he is learning which will help him to do his best on his TAKS tests.
The more that your child practices these strategies, the more successful and
relaxed that he will be on test day.
Recently, third graders took TAKS benchmarks for reading and for math. I was
impressed by the way that students are beginning to use their test taking
strategies.
