| During March, we had a somewhat abbreviated program due to the P.T.O. book fair and Spring break
but we did have an opportunity to study the Dewey Decimal System (second grade), fiction/nonfiction
and how these books are filed (first grade), and using the best and quickest resources for finding
answer to questions (third grade). PPCD listened to a book about concepts illustrated by fruits and
vegetables.
The highlight of April, which is poetry month, will be selections from the many books in that section
being read to all classes. Favorites include "The Bug in Teacher's Coffee", "Surprises", "Almost Late to
School", "Science verse", "Sports, Sports, Sports, and "Arroz con Leche". Also, the librarian will use a
violin to show how bad a man named Michael Finnegan played (but his dog loved it) to first grade, and
kindergarten children will see a demonstration of how to knit when they listen to "Farmer Brown Shears
His Sheep". Second and third graders will listen to pirate stories and humorous quizzes involving
honesty, thoughtfulness, and trustworthiness.
