First Grade

The First Grade class is buzzing with the sounds of Spring!

The month of March began with the students learning the lyrics, melody,
rhythms, and pitch syllables to the song "Bee, Bee, Bumble Bee." We next
moved on to the memorization of the words for our Texas state song, "Texas,
Our Texas" in honor of music in our schools month, it seems that every student
should not only know the words to the National anthem, but also the song
written to honor our state.

The words are: Texas our Texas all hail the mighty state!
Texas our Texas so wonderful, so great!
Boldest and grandest, withstanding every test.
Oh empire wide and glorious you stand supremely blest.
God bless you Texas and keep you brave and strong.
That you might grow in power and worth
                though out the ages long.
We are also working on identifying the notes F, G, A,and Bb on the classroom
keyboards with the goal of performing the song: "The Butterfly" in the
keyboard textbook.

We will continue the Texas songs: "Deep in the Heart of Texas," "The Yellow
Rose of Texas" and we'll analyze the rhythm and moving to the song: "Jingle at
the Window, Armando," otherwise known as "Tideo."

Finally, we will work on the singing game song, "Lucy Locket" with the solfa
syllables sol,la,and mi.

Have a musical Spring!
