I graduated with a Master's Degree in Music Education from Indiana
State University in 1976. I have enjoyed teaching in public and private
schools for five different states from pre-k through college level. I enjoy
learning and it is my desire to share the joy of learning music with my
students and their families.
This summer, I stayed in the country of Belgium while my husband
worked at his job. While there I learned a song in Flemish and your
children will also have fun later in the year learning this song.
When I am not teaching music classes during school hours, I enjoy
teaching and directing the Cline Ringers after school on Thursdays. I
also enjoy working in my flower garden, making music at home,
traveling and being with my husband, family and friends.
My goal is to teach music to children with the best of my abilities. I want
students to appreciate and enjoy music throughout their entire life.
All first through third grade students at Cline learn to read simple
rhythm, pitch, note identification, and keyboard skills. Studies have
shown that music education increases math and reading scores. An
appreciation of music provides enjoyment, relaxation, and is often a
great frustration release from all the tensions in life.
