Jan. 23-We have had a whirlwind of last 2 weeks between DRA testing and Reading Benchmark testing.  The children are hanging in there.  Their reading is improving greatly and they are beginning to learn how to use the strategies of test taking that we have worked on in class.  I will be sending home readers this week for the children to read at home.  Please have your child read aloud each night to you so that you can monitor their accuracy and encourage smooth reading with expression.  This daily reading is the best way to build confidence and increase fluency.
**** Reminder**** Picture Day is tomorrow.  Individual pictures will be taken and then sent home as proofs for you to order if you are interested.

Jan. 9-Welcome back to our first full week after the break.  No home readers will be coming home this week.  I am pulling children for individual DRA testing, so we are not meeting as reading groups this week.
