Peek at Next Week - Week of October 6
**Library books are due on Wednesday.
** DRA (Reading Assessments) and PAPI (Phonemic Awareness Inventory) will come home on Wednesday.
It is very common for children to "lose"
a level over the summer, so please do not worry too much if your child is on a level lower than they
were at the end of Kindergarten. Please sign
and return this form when it comes home and return it to me by Friday. You keep the gold copy of
both forms and return the rest to me.
Phonics pattern - Review all short vowel sounds. Learn about /ck/ endings - words like duck, pick,
stack, sock, check
Please use the list in your child's BEE Binder (in the Phonics Pocket) to help your child prepare for
our Friday Spelling Quiz. Brainstorm new words at home with your child to add to the list.
Word Wall Words - swill, they, run, yes, was
Math - We are finishing up our our chapter on ordering and comparing numbers 0-10, and will begin
exploring numbers through 20.
Science/Social Studies theme - We are exploring the life cycle and parts of an apple. We are also
doing a science experiment that looks at how
much water is in an apple, and how the skin of an apple helps hold water in and protect that apple.
Have a great week, and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
