The cozy town of Friendswood has been my home for 26 years. My four
beautiful, wonderful children are grown and continue to be a blessing. My
kind, supportive, and very flexible husband, Mike, and I enjoy having most of
our children living close. My precocious little five year old grandaughter,
Jana Lynn, is starting kindergarten this year here at Cline. What an
adventure that will be! She and blue-eyed, three year old Nolan live right
across the street from us! Who could ask for anything more?
Family is so important to me! We have so much fun together with church
activities, fishing, scrapbooking, walking on the beach, and making
spontaneous decisions to do something different and exciting. We are blessed
to enjoy each other so much. Having them all at home at the same time is one
of my greatest joys.
My son, Chris, is a 29 year old graduate of Texas A & M where he played
the bass (tuba) for four years in the Mighty Fighting Texas A & M Band. He
and his gorgeous wife Candace (who is my dear friend and the most wonderful
daughter-in-law imaginable) are successfully juggling their careers while at
the same time are raising my two grandchildren.
Our youngest son, Joey, has completed his first year of college at
Alvin Community. After one more year there he hopes to attend A & M in
College Station just like his oldest two siblings. He loves fishing more
than breathing, I think!
Jessie graduated from A & M College Station with her degree in animal
science. She is working at Baylor College of Medicine as a vet technician.
Jessie has always had a gift for working with and doctoring animals. Her
dream is to become a veterinarian. Now all she has to do is raise that grade
point average and get into Vet School!
Shelley, my youngest daughter, just completed her first semester at the
Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth with a 4.0 GPA. Her goal
is to become a Christian Marriage and Family Counselor. She and her new
husband Daniel just celebrated their first wedding anniversary on August 15th.
Daniel had a very successful year teaching 9th grade math in Grand Prairie
last year and will continue to inspire young people with his love for Christ
and his students. It will be so nice to have them back in Friendswood in a few
years.
My husband and I love going to Galveston every chance we get where we
are able to truly relax at our bay house. Mike says his blood pressure goes
down 20 points just driving over the causeway! We have just finally
completed all the repairs of damage caused by Ike. We are very grateful that
our damage was relatively so minimal, and pray that those less fortunate will
soon be back in their homes and jobs. We are looking forward to Galveston
making a complete comeback.
In my spare time (what's that?!!) I love to read, garden, and work on
my scrapbooks. Chronicling our large family's colorful life through
pictures and journaling is so much fun to me. Any time I can cut
and paste I am happy!!
As long as I can remember, I have loved being around children. Playing
with and teaching them was my greatest fun as a child. Kids still make me
smile, bring me joy, teach me about compassion and love, and give me courage
and energy (after twenty-one years!) to continue to pursue my mission in life:
teaching and loving children.
My goal is to use my passion for children's literature and love
of art to help me to make reading seem to children to be the privilege
and honor that it truly is. I know that happy and safe children who feel
good about themselves will learn to love learning. My mission is that my
students will learn to love reading and love learning with a passion that
lasts throughout their lives.
