MRS. ANTONINI - 2ND GRADE Homework Folder - Students will bring home a homework folder daily. Students are responsible for copying all homework assignments down from the board each morning. Homework will remain brief but relevant to the subject matter introduced in class. Parents need to initial the homework sheet daily so I know you have reviewed the information with your child that evening. If you have a message to send me, just place the note in your child’s folder and I should receive it the following morning. Please clean out the folder after I check the assignment. The homework assignment sheet should always remain in the folder until I remove it on Friday. The main purpose for sending home this folder is to teach students how to become responsible for their own work and materials. Friday folders will go home each Friday. Please review all papers completed in class and read all notes from the school. Empty the folder and keep all papers at home. Please return the folder on Monday making sure that you initial under the correct column. Only one folder will be issued throughout the year, so please handle these with care! Thank You! Report Cards are sent home every 9 weeks. Progress reports are sent 1/2 way through the 9 week session if your child is experiencing any difficulty. Book Order will be sent once a month. I want to encourage all of you to participate in ordering books from the Scholastic book orders. These books are on the appropriate reading level for second grade students, much less expensive than you would pay for them in stores, tax free and most of all fun for students to read. Please write your child’s name on the book order form and send a check made payable to Scholastic Book Club. Please do not send cash or any checks made payable to myself. Cafeteria-You are welcome to have lunch with your child! Due to security and safety reasons, there is no outside space for eating. We are trying to keep our school a safe place for everyone. Emergency Procedures--Please advise your handbook for the different kinds of drills we will practice throughout the year. If there is severe weather, watch Ch. 13 for an update as to our school district. Please send any updated emergency information, such as phone numbers for home, cell or employment as it occurs. Please make sure you have included all of those individuals who can pick up your child in case of an emergency on your enrollment card in the office. Please, send handwritten notes for going home differently. This is a safety issue and a school policy. Phone calls are not accepted. All notes for change of transportation must be delivered to the school by 2:15. As per state law, a child may have one designated bus drop off and may not ride home with another student. Please remember to send your child in tennis shoes every other day. Please read the handbook for further information about dress codes. Teachers are not allowed to apply sunscreen or mosquito repellent. Parents can send students with mosquito repellent wipes for recess and PE. All medications and notes must go through the nurses office. Medication must be in original bottle. See handbook for further information. Please send a written excuse for all absences Please, no birthday celebrations or invitations are to be brought to school. I will send a list of names and addresses home. I am looking forward to a WONDERFUL year! Warmest Regards and Many Thanks, Mrs. Antonini
