American History Classes 2008 - 2009
Mr. Bruce
My approach: You are juniors in high school and most of you are probably
pretty mature. I will treat you as though this is true. That means that I
hold you responsible for doing your work on time and taking care of makeup
work etc. It also means that I expect you to behave yourselves so that I can
teach and your classmates can learn. I like for my classes to be relaxed and
fun, but this can only happen if you allow act like a mature and responsible
person.
What you need for class - 1) your text book 2)a pen or pencil 3)a notebook.
Grades - Your test average counts for 75% of your grade in this class, your
daily average counts for %25.
Tests - consist of two parts that will be taken on two seperate days:
1)Multiple choice questions (60%) taken from vocab and study questions
and notes
2) essay questions (40%) - From the notes.
Note check - Will count as daily grades, but the average of these grades
will count as a test grade. Projects will also
count as grades in this category
Daily Work - Study Questions-- Questions that I have made up to cover
sections or issues in the book not covered in lecture.
Regular Assignments -- maps, worksheets, etc
*Unless otherwise instructed, all work should be done
in your notebook.
Makeup Work - I am bad about keeping up with who needs to do what, so you are
responsible for finding out what you need to do and
when it is due. My teacher website will have most of
the assignments for each unit posted.
Make up Tests - If you miss a test you have one week to make it up.
Late Work -- Will not be accepted
Class Rules School rules -- dress code, IDs, and tardiness will be
followed.
Class rules are simple.
1.Dont talk when material or instructions are
being presented.
2. Be respectful of your classmates and me.
