Mr. Carrillo is excited to be teaching at Friendswood High School this year.
He recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Houston's Moores
School of Music. While at UH, Mr. Carrillo served as a Tenor Section Leader
and Student Director for the MSM Concert Choral, the premier undergraduate
choir. While holding this position, Mr. Carrillo helped prepare the ensemble
for their Honor Choir performance for the Texas Music Educators Associate
Convention in 2005 and the American Choral Directors Association in 2007. In
addition to singing, Mr. Carrillo was the founding director of Floreat, the
newest choral ensemble at the Moores School of Music. This gave him the honor
of being the only undergraduate director of any ensemble within the music school.
During the summer of 2003, Mr. Carrillo performed with Light Opera Oklahoma in
Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also made his Wortham Theatre debut singing in a small
ensemble specializing in the madrigals of Carlo Gesualdo as a part of Da
Camera Houston's 2005 Concert Series also featuring the Brentano String
Quartet. He has also had the privilege singing in various venues across the
city singing with the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Schola Cantorum and the
Archdiocesan Choir of Galveston-Houston. His solo experience includes W.A.
Mozart's Vesperae solennes de Confessore, Pergolesi's Magnificat, and
Britten's Hymn to St. Cecilia.
Mr. Carrillo is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas
Choral Directors Association, and Phi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.
Currently, Mr. Carrillo resides in Webster, TX, is very involved with his
church, and is a huge Spurs and UH Cougar Football fan. When not singing, he
enjoys movies, board games, and reading.
Students will learn concepts of vocal and choral technique, music theory,
sight-reading, music history, and will be provided opportunities for creative
self-expression through performance of a wide variety of choral literature.
