Introduction to Psychology
Instructor: Ms. Cheryl Ryne
Purpose: To introduce the student to the field of psychology and expose them to both the biological
and social aspects of human behavior.
Content: Units will include such areas as the history of psychology, careers in psychology, the major
contributors in the field, physical and cognitive processes and breakdowns, personality and intelligence
development and interpersonal interaction.
Grades: Each chapter/unit will be composed of daily grades and a major exam and/or project. Other
major grades will include papers, projects and group labs or experiments. In addition one major grade
will come from keeping a journal with specific writing assignments. The journal will only be graded at
the end of each nine weeks.
Make Up work: It is the responsibility of each student to request and complete make up work as per the
guidelines in the student handbook.
Supplies: Students will need a binder to retain all notes, worksheets and tests. Students are expected to
bring their binder, textbook and pen or pencil each day to class.
