an appointment or leave a message, call FHS: (281)482-3413 Supplies
needed: 1.
A 3-ring binder OR folder to hold handouts, notes, and
graded work 2.
Loose leaf paper, all work that is turned in should be on
loose leaf paper 3.
Pens/pencils, pens are fine but you will need pencils for
problems and tests Class
Rules and Directions: 1.
Follow Directions 2.
Be polite! No talking while the teacher is talking, raise
your hand if you need to say something (surely you already know this!?!) 3.
Follow all safety rules and procedures! 4.
During Chemistry class you should be taking notes or
working on the assignment, not working on other classes’ assignments, sleeping
or writing notes! 5.
PLEASE ask questions about material you don’t understand,
I can’t read your mind 6.
Save all returned work at least until the end of the
grading period, if you have a question about a grade you will need the graded
assignment for verification 7.
Stay in your seat until the bell rings!!! 8.
All cheating will result in a zero, a call to your parents
and an office referral 9.
Homework is due at the beginning of class or it is
considered late 10.
All papers should include a heading in the top right hand
corner: Name Date Period All assignments
should also include a title Grades: 1.
Grades will be calculated on the following percentage
values: Tests 50%, Labs and Quizzes 30%, Homework and Daily work 20% 2.
According to the Mustang Manual, a student has as many
school days as he/she was absent to make up work, up to a maximum of 5 days.
Any work assigned before the absence will be due on the day the student
returns. It is the student’s responsibility to get missed assignments and turn
them in by the deadline! 3.
Students are expected to take scheduled tests if they are
present in class unless they have just returned from an absence in which new
material was covered. Tests are scheduled at least a week ahead so you will
know when they are coming up! Make up tests must be completed within a week and
are more difficult because you have more time to prepare 4.
Tests must be completed during class time! 5.
If you must turn in an assignment late, one day late will
have 30 points deducted (70) and 2 days late will have 50 points deducted (50),
after that you will not receive credit 6.
Extra credit on tests will either be bonus problems or the
directed reading depending on the material covered, there is NO OTHER EXTRA
CREDIT!!! Lab: 1.
TO PARTICIPATE IN LAB YOU MUST BE WEARING PROPER LAB
ATTIRE, if you aren’t you will not be allowed to participate and will forfeit
that portion of your lab grade 2.
All labs will require a lab report written on loose leaf
paper! The lab report consists of: a.
Pre-lab questions and procedure: these MUST BE COMPLETED
TO PARTICIPATE IN LAB, if this is not complete you must sit out and you will
loose 30 points off your lab grade b.
Data: charts, graphs or other written results c.
Conclusion/analysis questions 3.
A lab test (lab report analysis, LRA) will be given after
all lab work is complete, you will answer the questions on the LRA using your
completed lab report. If you haven’t completed your lab report or forget it you
will have to take the LRA without it! 4.
Lab grades are 70 points for the LRA and 30 points for the completed lab report (must be stapled to the
back of the LRA) and pre-lab and participation. 5.
If you are absent for a lab, get the data from some one
else, you must still do your lab report and take the LRA!!! Tutorials: the science
department offers tutorial as posted but you may see me before or after school
for help or to make up a test Tardies: don’t forget 3
tardies count as an absence and can affect your eligibility to exempt finals!!!
I count tardies on the grade book, don’t be tardy!!! Chemistry
