AP US Homework

	AP US History students receive a monthly calendar with homework 
assignments and Test dates on the calendars.    The assignments listed 
on each calendar date are the assignments for THAT NIGHT. 

All students must take the Fall Semester Exam (see 
Mustang Manual).

Directions for writing an Essay Outline

I.	Intro Paragraph:  (one or two sentences that explain the time period and the situation; you may 
want to define a major term such as “mercantilism”,  “egalitarianism” etc.)

	Thesis Statement:  ( this is YOUR judgment, your direction for  the essay, your ideas)

II.	1st body Topic Sentence:  (the direction for this paragraph)

	a.	(specific detail with explanation)
	b.	(specific detail with explanation)
	c.	(specific detail with explanation)

	Concluding Sentence:  (make a final judgment, tie to thesis)

III. 	2nd body Topic Sentence: 

	a.	(specific detail with explanation)
	b.	(specific detail with explanation)
	c.	(specific detail with explanation)

	Concluding Sentence:  (make a final judgment, tie to thesis)

IV.	3rd body (if necessary) Topic Sentence: 

	same as 1st & 2nd body paragraphs

V.	Concluding Paragraph:  Re-word your thesis, then write two or three sentences that finalize your 
answer and may even 	predict what happened next--	this is easy after you have read the next 
chapter, so look ahead.  (did this situation bring about the next?  i.e. Enlightenment - Independence
