English IV Class Guidelines
Grading Policy
Major grades (tests, projects, research paper) 50%
Daily grades (homework, classwork or daily quizzes) 20%
Quizzes 30%
Midterm final 20% of midterm grade
The lowest grade may be dropped if appropriate classroom procedure
is followed. This procedure includes the following:
Bring appropriate supplies
Be in your seat when the tardy bell rings (no tardies)
Wear your ID
Do not exceed restroom passes.
Do not earn a detention or discipline referral
Make-up Policy
It is the student’s responsibility to make up any work missed. If the
student is ill, he or she must complete make-up work within the time
designated in the Mustang Manual, except in the case of extended
illness or hospitalization. If the student is absent on school related
business, the work should be made up or turned in prior to the
absence. If the student exceeds the time permitted, he or she may
receive a zero on the
assignment.
Late Penalty
Essays or projects are due during the student’s English class period on
the date specified; papers turned in after the student’s English class
period will be assessed half of the daily late penalty (10 points). Late
work is assessed a penalty of 20 points per day.
Guidelines for Assignments
Blue or black ink
Loose-leaf notebook paper
Writing on front of paper only
Title in the center of the top line of the paper
Skipped lines or double spacing on written assignments

school or during lunch.

After class chat & phone call to mom/dad
Visit with Assistant Principal for a bigger "chat"
You are seniors! Don’t go there!

Guidelines for Assignments
All articles must be submitted to the teacher typed. Since our computer
programs in this room only accept certain other programs, you must
type your papers at school. This means that if a paper is due on
Tuesday, and you turn it in hand written, it is considered a zero.
