Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
  1. When are tutorials?
  2. When is my work due?
  3. Do you take late work?
  4. What is the absence policy?
  5. What should I study for tests?
  6. What should I do with my old papers?

When are tutorials?

I am here every morning before school by 8:00 am. I am also here in
the afternoons when it is not soccer season, but am sometimes still
outside. I will make a point of being in my room after school if you let
me know you need help. Department tutorials are in room 1017 with Miss
Curtis on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 - 5:00.

When is my work due?

Class work is due that day if you finish it. If you do not finish work in
class, it is to be finished that night and is due the next day, unless you
are given a different due date.

What is the absence policy?

We follow the school absence policy. If you are absent one day, you
have one day to make up your work. If you are absent two days, you
have two days to make up your work. ETC. If you are missing for school
business, it is school policy that you get your work BEFORE you miss a class.

What should I study for tests?

You should study your notes, worksheets, labs, and textbooks. It is
recommended that you do some sort of review type study rather than just
reading your book, that way, you are quizzing yourself. Biology is a lot
of big words and hard concepts so the best way to learn the material is by
repetition or practice. The textbook is also online and you can do
activities and quizzes at that site.

What should I do with my old papers?

You should remember that you must take, and pass, the science TAKS test your
junior year to be eligible to graduate. I recommend that you keep your
notes and maybe your whole notebook, so that you have something to study
before taking that test since it is two years away.
