Welcome to My Web Page!
I am excited to be the AP Statistics instructor, College Algebra / Finite
Math teacher and Varsity volleyball coach at Friendswood High School for the
2009-2010 school year. You will find all the information you need for the
AP Stats and College Algebra / Finite Math on my teacher web page. If you
have any questions, you can reach me at jlinch@fisdk12.net.
This is my ninth year at Friendswood High School. I am a graduate
of the University of Nebraska where I earned my bachelors degree in
Mathematics and Actuarial Science. I furthered my education in Texas
and earned my Masters of Science degree in Statistics from the
University of Houston Clear Lake.
My first career began in Galveston, Texas where I worked as an actuary
with American National Insurance Company from January 1985 –
August 1992. After eight years in the actuarial profession I decided to
turn my efforts toward teaching. I taught the next five years at Santa Fe
High School. The next three years I spent with Friendswood High
school as a math instructor and volleyball and track coach. After eight
years of instruction I switched my career path back to the actuarial
profession. I moved to Omaha, Nebraska for two years and worked with
Central States Health and Life Company as an actuary. My family and I
returned to Texas where I continued the actuarial profession, once
again for American National Insurance Company in Galveston, for the
next three years. Once again I made the change to the teaching
profession. I am honored and delighted to be back at Friendswood
High School, where I am currently teaching AP Statistics, College Algebra,
Finite Math and coaching Varsity Volleyball.
I have been married for fifteen years to my wonderful wife, Kathy. Kathy
is currently working as a dentist in the Clear Lake area. I have two sons,
Karney (11) and Kooper (8). They are very active boys and bring much joy
to my life.
I am excited to be teaching your children. I have always had a passion
to teach and enjoy being in a classroom environment. Please feel free
to email me anytime if you have concerns or questions about my classes.
I am looking forward to a terrific year!
Sincerely,
Jerry Linch
