Announcements

SRA Information:

The digital presentations required for the SRA can be - but DO NOT have to be - video presentations. Students are welcome to enter their information in any presentation software they have access to such as PowerPoint. As a department, we are trying to incorporate many opportunities for students to become familiar with ways to present materials rather than simply relying on standard oral presentations.

This SRA project is being done with ALL 7th grade LA students. If you would like to work with students from another class period or another teacher, please feel free to do so. Remember that each member of the group will be responsible for turning in the handouts. If group members are in different classes, each member will need to have a copy of the digital presentation to turn in.

If students do not want to work with a group, they may work alone. Family members and friends are more than welcome to fill in as needed for the presentation.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions or concerns about this first SRA.

*Some of the movie adaptations on the brief list of titles provided are rated 'R'. The Language Arts department is not suggesting that you have to watch one of these movies. We were only providing some alternatives that students may not have considered. We feel that the decision to watch a movie, any movie, falls upon the family. If you do not feel comfortable with your child watching a movie of any rating, please let your child know. If you do give permission for your child to watch a movie that is rated 'R', please take the time to fill out the permission slip found on the handouts page.

The Real World - FJH . . .

This year we are trying to focus on student success both in and out of school. Each 7th grade LA teacher has created a space in her room to showcase student success OUTSIDE of school. Please bring in newspaper clippings, photos, emails, or any other evidence of any success you have had. We want to know about anything and everything you do outside of school that helps you grow: Scouting awards/activities, church awards, community service, etc. . . This is your chance to brag so please take advantage of it.
