Language Arts Class Work and Homework
*Keep looking for your root words in your outside reading and TV/movie watching. You can earn extra credit each time you bring an example of these words from "The Real World"!!
Bring ALL SUPPLIES to class each day: a book to read, journal, pen and paper, LA folder or binder.
Once again, you will have very little homework each night. My expectation is that you will spend time planning and working on your SRA throughout the 9 weeks. As always, I am available for tutorials if you have any questions or would like to run ideas past me.
Monday, January 4:
Late arrival day
- classes start at 10:30.
Vocabulary
- Suffixes. Use handout - create one more example for each word.
SRA
- Handout directions, go over example, answer questions. Discuss exam if time allows.
Homework:
Tuesday, January 5
: Language Arts teachers will be grading Benchmarks.
Journal
- Harold #12.
Essay Writing
- Brainstorm ideas for an essay about your best gift. Use handout.
Homework:
Library day tomorrow - bring books to class.
Wednesday, January 6:
Library Day

Free Write.
Explode the Moment
- Watch movie clip and note all of the details present. Spend some time "exploding that moment" in writing.

Friday, January 8:
Free Write.
Essay
- Explode your Best Gift moment.
Discuss supply grade for the 2nd semester.
