I was absent yesterday. What do I need to do?

Please remember that it is your responsibility to come to me
after an absence. Check the "While You Were Out" box for any
missed handouts. See me to find out what lecture material you
missed. If necessary, schedule a time to come in during tutorials
to catch up on any missed work.

Why do we have to do____________?

All work we do in Language Arts is designed to help you become
more skilled and thoughtful readers and writers. The skills you
gain in junior high will aid you in your high school courses -
almost ALL of your high school courses. As you progress in your
educational career, you will find that you are required to do a
great deal of reading and writing. The skills you gain here will
prepare you for the work you will have in the future.

What can I do at home to make me a better reader/writer?

Read, read, read . . . Reading truly is the key to everything.
Reading will improve your vocabulary, writing skills, and general
knowledge base. While reading the words of skilled writers and
exposing yourself to quality writing, you are picking up on
techniques that will help your writing improve.
