Greetings! My name is Kimberly So and I am a former graduate of FISD, class of '99. I did my student teaching at Friendswood Jr. High in 2006 and went on to teach in Galena Park for 3 years. This will be my 6th year teaching 8th grade and my 3rd year at Friendswood. I received my undergraduate and masters degree at the University of Houston; Go Coogs! I enjoy cooking and spending time with my family. I am very excited and privileged to be working at my alma mater to teach and I look forward for yet another successful year. Mission Statement: As a teacher, it is my duty to create an environment that is conducive to students’ learning and development. My classroom will be safe and a place in which students can share thoughts and ideas freely. When they enter my classroom, they are all learners in my eyes. Each student will be treated with respect and dignity. I encourage individualism and diversity in the classroom. I believe that collaboration is a key component of success in the classroom, in the community and among my colleagues. I will work with my students to ensure that they are receiving quality instruction. Students are encouraged to work with one another to accomplish both long term and short term goals. Open communication and collaboration with my colleagues and administration is important to me. I will work with parents so that they always feel welcome, as they are also an educator in their child’s life. I believe I am a life long learner. I will continue to reflect and self evaluate because I feel that there is always room for improvement. I will keep up to date with my content area through professional development and through reading. Through learning more about science, I become more appreciative of the knowledge I gain. I hope to show students that science can be fun and exciting. I hope to ignite the curiosity that leads to seeking out answers. Science is about questioning the world around us and discovery. This not only applies to science, but to everyday life. My father always says, "you never know if you don't ask".
