This will be my 15th yr. at the Junior High teaching Spanish and I am still thrilled to be here! I graduated from Indiana University and earned my Master's from Ball State University. I have taught Spanish to 6th graders in Gary, Indiana, 4th grade in Flossmoor, Illinois, 7th & 8th grade SocialStudies in Woodbridge, England, 9th-12th grade Social Studies and Spanish in Kaiserslautern, Germany and 9th-12th grade Social Studies and Spanish in Dickinson, Tx. for a total of 39 years. The students are absolutely the best part of my job and should that ever change, I promise I will retire!.

Course descriptions: Each class is designed to enable students to read, write, listen/interpret, and speak standard Latin-American Spanish while also exposing students to the geography, history and culture of various Spanish-speaking countries. It is the continuation of the course started in 7th grade and will yield one high school credit when the student successfully completes the two-year course. For Pre- Ap students, it is the first step toward obtaining college credit with the successful completion of the AP test taken in the 3rd-5th levels of language study. Please note: Students NOT maintaining a 70+ ave by December will be dropped from the course and will be enrolled in whatever elective is available for Second Semester. Thematic Vocabulary: Family and home, team sports, health and medical practices, summer and winter activities, cultural diversions, plane travel, personal routines, train travel and restaurant experiences. . Evaluation: 15% = Homework/practice 25% = Weekly participation 25% = Quizzes 35% = Tests / Projects Absences / Late work: Students with excused absences have as many days to make up work as they are absent. They may make up participation points in the following day's after school tutorial. On-time homework must be submitted at the beginning of class. Ten points will be deducted from the Weekly Participation grade for late work. Ten points will be deducted from the assignment submitted later in the class period. Twenty points will be deducted from the assignment if submitted by the following class period. Forty points will be deducted from the assignment if submitted later than one class period. No late work will be accepted after that unless completed after school in tutorials, NO LATE WORK IS ACCEPTED IN PRE-AP CLASSES. State law requires that a student be in attendance at least 90% of the time that a class is offered. If a student does not meet the attendance requirement, credit will be denied. Every 3 tardies that a student accrues to a class will be recorded as an absence when determining final exemptions and denial of credit. Students who are more than 10 minutes late to any one lass will be considered absent.
