Good morning! It is that time; we're beginning to start making plans for the coming school year. One of the items we must address is filling vacancies on the PTA Board. We would like to ask for your assistance in distributing information to your school's families. Each of us knows personally the value of an active PTA, and we're hoping to encourage involvement among "new" parents/guardians/caregivers.
Here are the ways we would like your help to invite more parents to become an active part of the RMS PTA as soon as possible:
1. All elementary feeder schools (principals/administration, teachers, and PTAs) share the attached document/information via e-news/e-mail.
2. Hard copy flyers are sent home with your students. (If you can let us know what day will be most efficient for your campus, we'll get the copies to you. Please also include the total number of copies your campus will need.)
3. RMS PTA sends a board member or two to the campus "brown bag" events that are being held for incoming RMS 6th graders. (BPE on Feb. 1, Gattis on Feb. 5, and Forest Creek on Feb. 8) We would like to "share" for a couple of minutes, have handouts with more info about specific openings/needs, and be available after the meeting for questions.
4. Send a representative to upcoming PTA meetings for the same purposes as #3.
5. Have RMS PTA board members present (possibly with an information table) at Fine Arts Night at RMS on February 12.
6. RMS PTA board members attend incoming 6th grade parent night at RMS on May 1 with the same goals as #3 and #4.
*****7. Please send us recommendations & contact information for anyone who you feel we should talk to regarding the opportunities to serve the students at RMS through PTA. Please note that often times the "quiet ones" who aren't always "out in front" have turned out to be some of our greatest members/leader!
Thanks so much for your participation in continuing the legacy of success for the RMS PTA! If you have other suggestions or opportunities for us to "meet & greet" potential members from your campus, please let us know. Looking forward to hearing from each of you soon.

Our school is excited to be participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's School & Youth Programs. Last year, students in the South Central Texas area raised $1,444,000 to fight blood cancers like leukemia and provide services for patients and their families. This year, our school is committed to help raise even more, so we ask you to please assist our cause by making an online donation to help reach our school's fundraising goal. It's easy!
For more information on The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the School & Youth Programs, please visit www.lls.org and www.schoolandyouth.org/stx.
Thank you for helping in the fight against cancer! Please tell your friends and family about my page!

Attendance Message From Round Rock ISD
Every month the district provides an attendance message for parents in an effort to increase Average Daily Attendance.Students aren't the only ones who have to make up work when they miss a day of school.
Every student absence also creates extra work for teachers and may also slow the progress of the rest of the class. Teachers often must administer additional tests when a student returns, prepare lengthy class notes for a student on an extended absence, or re-teach the previous day's lesson for a student who missed.
In this holiday season, the best gift you can give a teacher is a classroom full of students who are present, enthusiastic and ready to learn.

> Grading Policy
Third Grade, Fourth Grade, Fifth Grade
Students earn numerical grades on a 0-100 scale.
Redo/Retake
Any grade below a 70 is considered failing, and the student will have a reasonable and fair opportunity to be retaught and to redo the assignment to further develop his/her understanding of the concept, earning a grade up to a 70 (pending new regulation decision).
Number of Grades per Quarter
District Policy (EIA Local) states that grading guidelines shall ensure that grades reflect a student's relative mastery of an assignment and that a sufficient number of grades are taken to support the grade average assigned.
