About Me!

Cynthia began working with and teaching children art and athletics in 1997
through city based community programs in her home town of Roswell, GA. This
community work continued through 2008 and culminated with the position of Art
Director and Summer Camps Director for Roswell Area Parks and Recreation. In
2005 she graduated from the University of Georgia with her Bachelors of Fine
Arts in Art Education/fabric focus; also earning a minor in Geography(
meteorology focus). She began working for the Fulton County public school
system teaching art in early 2006; earning a nomination for Teacher of the Year in
2007. In the summer of 2008, Cynthia moved to Austin and began teaching here
at Gattis Elementary. With the 2009/2010 school year she will be splitting
her time between Gattis and Teravista.
Cynthia has been involved in judging the Reflections contest for PTA; judging
for the Roswell Photographic Society shows (state-wide and local); and has
been an invited artist in a number of gallery events. Her students have had
their work chosen to be shown at the following locals: Fulton County Board of
Education Building; Roswell Starbucks; Roswell Visual Arts Center; Milton
District Art Show; Roswell Public Library; RRISD Elementary Art Show; RR A+
Credit Union.

Mission For The Class

Our Mission this year is to engage in a cross-curricular holistic art
education curriculum based on the Elements and Principals set forth in the
ARRC.... Basically this means that we will study the "bones" of art through
not only art making, but taking a look at art history, art critique (learning
to look at and make judgments on art), and art aesthetics (what you consider
beautiful or not so beautiful) all while tying our art projects back into a
big idea learned in the "regular" classroom.
