40th International Children's Art Exhibition-
Artworks by 28 Gattis students have been sent to world competition in Osaka, Japan; November, 2008.  Good luck to Jade Trent, Evelyn Mendez, David Seymour, Vanessa Tobeck, Mariam Habhab, Lauren Lee, Preston Nysetvold, Viviana Guerra, Olivia Feher, Leah Day, Florelle Binoya, Kennedi Hoard, Joshua Contreras, Savanna Mays, Ebony Hall, Amy Ideozu, Lily Moron, Precious Marmolejo, Spencer Hammett, Aaliyah Davis, Alexis Davis, Ariana Wheeless, Loreana Rios, Chris Byers, Athena Hoang, Brooklyn Rounds, Matthew Prahl, and Lina Seymour.  Results will be announced in May!

Mission: 10,000 Rockets- Students are participating in this art & science project sponsored by Microsoft and Bing.  Students are eligible to have their artworks published in a commemorative book.

Texas Art Education Assn- Ms. Staten was invited to speak at the TAEA conference in Dallas.  She spoke at the Elementary Division Meeting about artsonia.com.
 
International Children's Art Exhibition- WooHoo!  Seven winners in our first year of world competition- including a Gold Medal winner!

Starbuck's- Ms. Staten's students now have gallery space in the Starbuck's at Round Rock Outlet Mall!  Stop by to see what is on display.  Students will be awarded a coupon for a free drink for having a piece on display. 

Peter Max- Ms. Staten presented four student artworks to artist Peter Max at an exhibit in Austin.  Fifth graders had studied his contemporary art and had created paintings in his style.  He was very touched to receive the pieces and notes from the students.

GALLERY NIGHT- March 10- See hundreds of pieces of Gattis art on display!

Valentine Cards for Kids- Gattis students created beautiful hand-made valentines for children in Austin area hospitals.  The project was sponsored by Mix 94.7.

Nutcracker Museum, Leavenworth, WA- Nutcracker drawings by 17 Gattis students are on display in the entry to this National Historic Museum.  We are also the featured school on their website-
